Know Your Power, In A Literal Sense

Healing and Transformation, Addictions, Personal Power, Spiritual Guidance

Note: This article can be used as a primer for my teachings.

If you’ve been on a personal growth path in the last twenty years, you would likely be familiar with Marianne Williamson’s famous quote from her book A Return To Love:

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn’t serve the world. There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we’re liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

This quote (or an excerpt of it) has been shared widely, and used in many motivational speeches and self-help literature.  Yet until now its meaning has only been absorbed at a superficial, thinking level.

I don’t personally know Williamson but for the sake of this article I will assume she was writing from the same depth of spiritual truth when I use similar words.  When I say we are immensely or infinitely powerful, I mean it literally.  When I say we are divinely powerful, I mean we literally have God-like powers.

Because our cognitive mind, only capable of limited understanding, cannot comprehend the enormity and scope of it, it decides it is allegorical or metaphorical.

But this power, that I and other spiritual teachers speak of, is literal.  It is time that we collectively move forward from simply being aware of this vague concept about our power to viscerally knowing and embodying it.  Being it.

Until you embody and be it, you don’t really believe and trust that it exists.  Which means you aren’t tapping into the powers you are capable of.  The idea that we are powerful beyond measure is a cool concept, sure, but do you really believe it is true?

Like a lot of spiritual truths, people can get stuck at a stage of simply uttering the words, just to appear they’re ‘in the know’.  What’s generated is a bunch of statements that people are saying but don’t really know their profound meanings.

Why does it matter?

Why is it important to go to the next stage of fully knowing the meaning of this thing that Williamson is presumably pointing to?  Getting stuck here blocks humanity from rising to our true sovereign nature.  The prize at stake is freedom from suffering.

The Infiniteness of Our Power

Our power is so enormous that our physical minds will never be able to fathom it.  I don’t pretend to know it fully.  At best, I’ve had glimpses that alluded to it, as breathtaking and spectacular those experiences were.  Therefore, I am describing it also from a limited knowledge of the specifics, though I have a complete Knowing that it is real.

I am guided to use the 2014 Scarlett Johansson movie, Lucy, to describe this power.  It is not a perfect model but does serve as a workable reference.

The gist of the movie is Lucy, an American studying in Taipei, Taiwan, is tricked into being used as a drug mule.  In a bid to escape from captivity, she is kicked in her stomach and the brain-enhancing drugs sewn in her stomach got released into her system.  As the movie progresses, we see Lucy exhibiting increasing capabilities as the drug unlocks previously dormant brain functions.

In the final parts of the movie when her power reaches almost supernatural abilities, the audience is wowed by the fantastical scenes, yet perhaps also judging the movie to be “ridiculous”, “far-fetched” and “unrealistic”.

But that is the level of power we’re talking about!  I want you to go beyond what your mind deems unrealistic when it comes to your own power within.  That threshold needs to be crossed in order to access your power.  Stopping at the threshold is akin to turning back just as a wall opens to reveal treasures hidden behind it.

In the movie, the brain is the source of power but I am talking about a source greater than our brain: our divine source.  We do not need a breakthrough modern drug to unlock our brains in order to access superhuman powers.  We have direct access to our divine powers.  They are innately a part of us.

Bashar, the entity channelled by Darryl Anka, says that every methodology is simply a “permission slip” for us to access the powers readily available to us.  Similarly, I often say to my students that actually we are so powerful that all we have to do is Decide and it happens.

But collectively we are not there yet and so we still need to use certain techniques and tools to ‘get there’.  We’re playing the pretend game of powerlessness, pretending that we need a step, process, tool or technique to bridge to ‘there’.

As if ‘there’ is so far away from where you are right now.  The truth is, there is no ‘there’.  ‘There’ is here, in you, right now.  Contrary to what your mind may tell you, it doesn’t take long or such hard work to come into your power.

You Can Tap Into This Power Now

Acacia-Pinnacle-jpg

Take your physical body, by way of demonstration.  Our bodies are capable of more strength and possibilities than we have bought into.

The next time you are working out, see how much more you’re capable of when you come from a knowing of, “I am way more powerful than I’ve been led to think.”  See how many more reps you can do, how much heavier the weights you can lift, how much longer you can hold that yoga pose, etc.

You will surprise yourself, as it shows you in a real and tangible way how much of an illusion you had previously bought into. It should give you a pleasurable feeling, a sense of joy and expansion, of being acutely present and more alive.  Each moment, and movement, is more fluid, as if there is more space and less tight.  This is how you know you are coming from the right place.

If it feels forceful and tiring, then you’re just pushing yourself from your body and mind, both of which are limited.  It should fill you with exhilaration, not an adrenaline-driven kind that creates stress as a by-product but one that is regenerative.  Your spiritual resources are infinite.  A light touch is all you need to access and manoeuvre it.

You can be more physically energetic, strong and powerful now

But more than physical demonstrations of power, it’s the invisible stuff that is the most impressive.  Our physical world is only a very small part of our existence.  It is the tip of the iceberg; what’s below the iceberg is vast and mostly uncharted.  To identify yourself only as your physical self or to put importance only on the physical dimension is to cut off from the majority of your power.

I’m not talking about the mind either.

Your Mind Is Your Enemy

Williamson’s quote has been embraced mostly by self-helpers, peak performance enthusiasts and positive thinkers to motivate them to become better versions of themselves.  This group of individuals rely heavily on the linear mind, and they are applying the quote to the mental level rather than its literal meaning.

“Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?”
“Playing small”
“We are all meant to shine”

These ideas from the quote have been used by this group to motivate the mind to become stronger.  The mind and spirit are two different realms of our being.  One cancels out the other.  Relying on the mind is not spiritual.  Mind blocks us from accessing our spiritual powers.

Then there is another, supposed spiritual group who are fond of citing Williamson’s quote.  Those who are fans and practitioners of the “law of attraction” (a massive commercial chunk of the self-help market) talk profusely about the concept of our manifesting power.  But what they are actually talking about is NOT true spiritual power, for they are still tapping into the limited egoic mind.

Little do they realise, in pursuing their ‘spiritual’ practice, they are moving further and further away from spirituality and becoming more entrenched in the mental realm.  [I have been talking about how misguided the law of attraction teachings are since 2010; read Why Law Of Attraction Is So Yesterday.  Unfortunately, today most people are still stuck on that level of teachings.]

To access your divine powers, you need to NOT use your analytical, logical, rational mind.  The answers and solutions you are looking for are not found there.  Your mind will not give you the answers that will liberate you but instead anchor you deeper in powerlessness.

Spirituality Is the Most Practical Solution

We do already exercise and apply our divine invisible powers.  For instance, we all know how powerful love is.  When we come from love, miraculous healings can happen, broken relationships can be repaired, unusual opportunities can appear out of nowhere, a whole world can change!

Passion is another invisible powerhouse.  I believe that passion is the new currency.  Your passion for a project can rally resources and support, when conventional business wisdom tells you there is not a chance you will make it in the marketplace.

Or, when we trust and act on our intuitive nudges it guides us to a solution that bypasses the eight steps we would need to take according to “factual knowledge”.  Usually a solution so brilliant in its creative twist that we’re left astonished forever.

We’re only scratching the surface with these examples.  There is so much that we can do in the spiritual realm, whereas you will always run out of options when you solely rely on what you can do in the physical world.

In a practical sense, what it translates to is:

  • You can be free from the hold of mental afflictions.
  • You can dissolve emotional insecurities and rise above relationship triggers.
  • Magical and miraculous shifts can take place in the physical world.
  • If you’re tormented by a sense of purposelessness, “why am I here, what’s the point?” type of spiritual sickness, you can shift into presence, joy and aliveness.

If by now you’re a bit frustrated because I have yet to give you a step-by-step formula for how to access and utilise your powers…  Let me tell you this: you do not need me to spell it out to you.  We’re so conditioned to rely on external ‘experts’ that we’ve lost touch with connecting with our own inner knowledge.  When you stay in stillness without running away, all the information you need is here.

Having said that, I will now address a subject that will elucidate why we are trapped in powerlessness and thus, guide you to take your power back.

Agents: Saboteurs of Divine Light

There is a force hell-bent on preventing humanity from knowing how truly powerful we are.  It has been called different names, with varying descriptions, in different cultures and religious/occult/esoteric circles.  How this force came to be, and what it really is, is beyond the scope of this blog post.

More than that, we should not dwell too much on the history and stories anyway.  Doing so can trap us in a state of perpetually analysing it and even a dark obsession – when instead we should get on with waking up from the hypnosis, disabling this force and rise in our power (not in that linear order as a prolonged battle but simultaneously, quickly).

Suffice to say that this force is the antithesis of the Light Agenda, our supreme divinity.  It opposes the rising of humanity and is driven to prevent humans from knowing we are infinitely powerful, by keeping us in mental imprisonments through implanting artificial programmings that filter our experiences.

In the larger context, I see it as a natural part of the world of duality in which we live.  When something exists, its opposite has to exist too.  When one end of the continuum rises, the opposite end will attempt to squash it, in a self-balancing mechanism.  Therefore, ultimately, it is not personal.

Now how it can seem like personal attacks solely perpetrated against you is the way it tends to play out in our lives.  Most of us have encountered our fair share of abusers, bullies, traitors, cheaters, scammers, love-bombers, tricksters, manipulators and evil eyes.

The one who bullied you in high school…. That friend of your mother’s who loved making negative comments about your body, causing you to become anorexic later on…. The look of disappointment by your father that seemed to greet every milestone of your life, leading you to doubt yourself all the time…. That relationship which brainwashed you into believing you are unworthy….

It is not the characters, not really.  There is something else behind it: a force working to sabotage your realisation of the truth.  The characters are what I call “Agents,” the reference being from the movie The Matrix.  They are people (and circumstances) being used by this force to carry out its plan.

The less enlightened we are, the more vulnerable we are to being used as Agent.  “Enlightened” here refers to how conscious one is versus being caught up in the 3D world (the system, the Matrix, programmed existence), and how dedicated one is in the pursuit of self-awareness.

Therefore, eventhough the agenda is not personal, the characters do have to be held responsible on some level.  As much as they are being used to further an agenda (they are puppets in that sense), they are seldom just innocent puppets.  Some individuals possess an evil propensity on their own (of course, the question of nature vs nurture is debatable), which makes them easy targets by the counterforce to being used as Agents.  Some are just unaware, which also makes them good candidates for the Agent role.

All of us have probably been used as Agent at least once, since even the more enlightened among us have dark patches of unawareness.  If you’ve ever been in a relationship, you’d be familiar with how easily we can say something to cause a loved one to feel small.

Nevertheless, we are not going to use the perspective of Agents to justify someone’s bad behaviours.  This is something I like to emphasise in my teachings as I see too many people misuse spiritual truths and spiritual teachers using these concepts to manipulate people.

But knowing there is a bigger agenda beyond the characters gifts us with the power of detachment – when we could otherwise be emotionally entangled and mentally spiralling out of control, thus becoming lost under a dense layer of hypnosis.

Besides individuals, the egoic mind is also an Agent.  As I said earlier, your mind is your enemy; the context here gives another layer of meaning to that statement.  This is why I urged you not to dwell too much in the how and what, as your mind will become too active and you end up giving too much power to the Agent (hence, becoming more trapped in the illusion of powerlessness).

Wake Up from the Spell of Powerlessness

Human beings are lulled into a kind of dull, mundane existence.  We tolerate a blanket of discomforts and dissatisfactions because we think it is normal and “that’s just life”.

To a degree.  Whilst going through some challenges in life is part and parcel of our soul’s expansion, I think in general people tend to cross the threshold into prolonged suffering.  It’s usually those subtle pains and discomforts, however, that play the biggest role in keeping us stuck in the illusion of powerlessness.  For they are subtle enough not to raise any awareness of its adverse nature.

I often point out that in any authoritarian regime, the system allows their subjects a degree of freedom to give them the false impression that they do have the power to act autonomously.  But it is a trap; it serves to disguise the fact that ultimately they are locked in a system of enslavement.  The counterforce works in a similar way.

Fortunately, there is nothing more powerful than our Light.  Within us, there is something that cannot be crushed.  Even if we have temporarily forgotten it is there, its brilliance and potency have remained uncorrupted.  Therefore, we can access our true powers at any time.

Agents, and the force behind them, are not that powerful.  It is not difficult to disable them.  That filter that blocks us from seeing the truth about ourselves is only weak and flimsy.  It does not take much to dismantle it.

One of the aspects of our power is a sense of knowing.  We can call it intuition, gut feeling, sixth sense or instinct.  We have direct knowing of everything that we need to know.  But the trapped, enslaved, disempowered version of us are blocked (albeit flimsily) from utilising this ability.  We have been brainwashed into thinking it is silly, superstitious and unintelligent to listen to our signals.  But these signals are loud and clear, if you care to listen to them.

Here are some steps that can quickly and powerfully dismantle the influence of the counterforce and restore your divinity:

#1  Stop and Pause in Stillness.

In any abusive relationship fraught with controlling and manipulative tactics, you will find there is one common tactic utilised: keeping your attention occupied with selected chores under their supervision, to minimise the time you spend in privacy.  The abuser knows that if given the space and time on your own, you might connect with the truth of the situation and run away.

Thus, busy-ness and the drive of addictions is part of the programming.  In this technological era, we’re programmed to go faster, speak faster, consume faster; have no patience for any content short of ‘shorts’ and the shortest of bullet points.  So much of what makes us beautifully human have been stripped away with the advancement of social media and increasingly at a scary pace, artificial intelligence (aspects of which are also Agents).  As a result of their influences, we are being moved further and further away from our divinity.

But again, there is nothing more powerful than our Light.  No matter how advanced the counterforce’s game appears to be, our Light still illuminates the Truth within us.  You still have the power and choice to decide to stop in your tracks instead of proceeding further along in the automation.

At this moment, stop all running.  Stop all mental activities of analysing, judging, criticising, labelling, ruminating.  Take a pause in participating in the madness of the mind.  Allow yourself a moment of doing nothing.  Do nothing and give back to yourself everything

This moment of pausing everything is sacred and precious; a cocoon of sanctuary that is always available should you choose.  It can be the most powerful thing you do, a potential turning point.  When you rest in this moment, you return to your sacred self and realise the truth beneath the foreground of noise designed to distract you from it.

Here, you will wake up from the hypnosis and see through the illusions keeping you trapped in powerlessness.  It is not real!

Here, you can witness the conditioned responses you’ve been brainwashed to act out, which perpetuate your being powerless.

Every feeling, every state of being, that indicates you’re powerless comes from a programme – lies you’ve been convinced of, brainwashed into believing and adopted as the truth.  There are many of these programmes in place.

When you can see the truth, a big chunk of your power returns to you.  A tangible fragment of your consciousness merges back into your soul.  For you are no longer an unconscious being, an automaton, but freed in your knowledge of self.

#2  Call It Out.

I have discovered that calling out a negative influence as soon as you notice it can disrupt and neutralise it.

Just say aloud or silently to yourself, “Agent!”  You are not saying it to anyone but yourself, as an acknowledgement and proclamation of the truth.  This is powerful enough to awaken you from the hypnosis and conditioned responses that perpetuate your imprisonment.

By naming the culprit, you are letting it known in the Universe that you are a conscious being.  You being conscious is sufficient to resolve anything.  Our consciousness is that powerful.  I often teach that by virtue of us imbuing something with our consciousness (pure awareness), that thing heals and is restored to divine wholeness.

[Read The Power Of Naming Your Fears.]

#3  Hold Yourself at an Elevated Consciousness.

Sometimes, when I introduce an empowering concept to someone, instead of embracing it in an empowered way they let it disempower them further.  For instance, the concept that we create everything in our reality when embraced in an empowered way can be hugely empowering, as it shows we can also uncreate something unwanted.

Occasionally, however, someone will moan about why they have created such-and such and work themselves into a self-blaming dark hole right before my eyes!  What was meant to be empowering has been used as yet another reason to remain in victimhood.

I am pointing this out to warn anyone against using this perspective of the Agents to feel small and helpless, as this too is another programmed response.

This is why I keep reiterating that we should not be thinking and analysing it too much.  Doing so will give it more power and we stay in a disempowered state, when we could utilise that energy to disable it quickly and with no drama.

Within us, we have infinite space to manoeuvre our consciousness.  When approaching a problem or an idea, we can either raise our consciousness above it or we allow it to subjugate us.  Even in the midst of stress and overwhelm, when it seems that your vibration is so low it’s impossible to raise your consciousness, it is in your power to do so.  Going back to Step #1 above and starting there will help.

We do not fight fire with fire.  Instead, we come from the uprising of our spirit.

#4  Know An Even Higher Perspective.

There is a perspective that is higher than the one I have outlined about the Agents.

Little do they know, they too ultimately serve the Light Agenda.  But since their intelligence is limited to the sphere they operate in, they lack this understanding.  This is why I say they are not that powerful.  They are borne out of the same creative juice as divine source, as part of the human soul’s evolution in consciousness.

You see, if you use their sabotage as an opportunity to sharpen your light, your spirit rising to unprecedented heights on the back of it, they have contributed to more Light being illuminated in the cosmo.

Knowing that ultimately this whole dark and convoluted agenda has a purpose within our grand divine plan can lift you up to a place of power.  Above all, we are reminded that our soul growth is what we are here to experience.

As we rise out of forgetfulness of our divine power and awaken from the dream while still being in the dream, the virtual reality game, our soul expands and diffuse the resultant joy to our physical self – creating a full-circle effect of our soul’s temporary existence in this limited world arriving at remembrance that we are infinite.

You are home.  You are free.  You are multi-dimensional.
